Credit Manager

General Description: Accountable for the overall performance of the Credit Department and the management of the staff, the extension of credit to customers and the managing of the accounts receivable assets of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the new account credit investigation, account creation and set up process; determines and sets credit limits for customers in the eclipse system. Ensures proper documentation is collected and filed, including credit applications, personal guarantees, and credit history/references.
  • Oversees the collection of receivables by developing policies and procedures to maximize the collections while minimizing write-offs and lost sales. Manages the Credit department staff in order to safeguard the receivables and ascertain that all Credit Policies and Procedures are being followed. This compliance also includes the other employees involved in the sales process.
  • Responsible for the satisfactory resolution of customer disputes. Works with the Collectors, the Sales Organization, Logistics and the customer to resolve disputes while insuring an ongoing business relationships with the customer.
  • Manages and monitors the large job information process with the Sales Team to insure that proper safeguarding of assets are in place prior to committing to a significant exposure for large projects.
  • Personally manages the AR of high risk or complicated accounts. This would include large accounts and large jobs where securitization is critical. Reviews customer purchase orders on large commercial jobs to limit risk to the Company.
  • In non-paying/slow paying accounts, ensures HVAC has all of the proper documentation and has performed all necessary steps to protect and or secure the receivable.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university, in Accounting or Finance equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing credit; with subordinate employees.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be highly detail oriented and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Must be extremely organized and have the ability to create systems for efficiency.
  • Able to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
