HVAC Sales Engineer

General Description: Accountability for profitable growth and profitability of HVAC Commercial and Engineered products in assigned territory. Develops and implements a territory sales strategy, based on company goals, which will contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Profitable Sales Growth

  • Increases annual sales of Rep Agency and distributed Commercial Equipment product lines with all classes of Commercial customers.
  • Initiates and maintains sales and marketing relationships with mechanical contractors, commercial building owners, facility managers, developers, architects, and engineers in assigned territory to promote HVAC product offerings and to solicit projects.
  • Makes personal calls on Architect, Engineering, and Commercial Facilities firms in all targeted customer segments; Ensures that writing of favorable specifications is accomplished and in sufficient volume to achieve annual product line sales targets and business plan goals.
  • Collaborates with Applications Group to provide design assistance, sizing, heat gain and loss calculations for commercial building owners, managers, developers, architects and engineers to have HVAC Distributors represented product lines specified on engineered projects.
  • Capable of analyzing HVAC systems by creating installation/operating cost comparisons and energy consumption analysis for existing and potential customers to convey the advantages of using HVAC equipment/products.


  • Develops annual Territory Business Plan in conjunction with GM - Commercial Solutions; defines sales strategies and action plans for identified target accounts and prospects within the territory, including establishing new Architect Engineer, Commercial Facility, and Commercial Contractor accounts, growing sales volume with current accounts, and maximizing share of customers’ equipment spend.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering Preferred) from four-year college or university; and five years commercial HVAC equipment sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Class “C” Driver’s License and good driving record.
