Amana Introduces New R32 Side Discharge Units
by HVAC Distributors January 7, 2025Amana has introduced new R32 side discharge outdoor units, with related indoor units, as part of the transition to A2L refrigerants.
Background:
- This introduction will include R32 outdoor units in combination with the matching air handlers, vertical coils, and horizontal coils.
- For the ODU the base model series will change. The coils and AHU will be changed to the refrigerant designation. See Appendix One.
- There is a performance improvement in the switch to R32 refrigerant. See Appendix Two.
- Daikin is removing the older “non-AlumaFin7” coils. There will no longer be CAPE coils.
- The new system requires the Amana Smart Stat or a compatible stat.
- An S-Series certification is still required.
25C Tax Credit:
- The most significant change is the AZV7S now qualifies for the federal tax credit in all regions, including DE, MD, & VA.
- There are two match exceptions, both being the 2-ton dual fuel horizontal. One with the AMVM97, the other with the AMVC96.
A2L Leak Mitigation:
- A2L leak mitigation is built into the air handler. No added installation or parts are needed.
- For dual fuel applications, like the AMVM97 and AMVC96 furnaces, the Non-A2L Furnace Integration Kit 0230K00044 (.489914) is required.
