Daikin Introduces New Combustion Air Coupling for 80% Furnaces

by HVAC Distributors

Daikin is introducing a new combustion air coupling for the new design of their 80% AFUE furnaces.

From Daikin:

We are providing information about the new Combustion Air Coupling for the new design of our 80% furnaces. The combustion air louvers on the top panel and burner access door have been eliminated, providing a similar look to our 90+% AFUE furnaces. The new top panel has the flue vent opening near the center and a combustion air opening to the right. The Chimney Transition Top must be field installed on the flue vent opening and the new Combustion Air Coupling, along with a gasket, must be field installed on the combustion air opening. This change occurred on our non-A2L, 80% AFUE furnaces in July 2024 and will carry forward to our new R-32 compliant 80% AFUE furnaces.

From July 8 through August 31, 2024, our non-A2L 80% AFUE furnaces were built without including the combustion air coupling and gasket in the literature bag. An installer has the option to leave the 3” combustion air opening as is or field install the coupling and gasket for a finished look. The combustion air coupling needs no additional piping, but we do suggest a 90° elbow on the coupling to guard against blockage.

We have created a Combustion Air Coupling (Part No. 0270K20002) that provides the Coupling (Part No. 0161F00037), Gasket (Part No. 0154F00041) and 4 screws.
