Goodman Introduces GLXS4B and GLXS4M R32 Condensers

Goodman Introduces GLXS4B and GLXS4M R32 Condensers

by HVAC Distributors

Goodman is introducing the new R32 Goodman 14.3 SEER2 condensers to replace the existing R410A condensers, and they are condensing the product mix. The old GSXN4 and GSXB4 will both transition to the new GLXS4B. The old GSXM4 transitions to the new GLXS4M.

Background:

  • This change is a part of the transition to A2L refrigerants.
  • Daikin is getting a head start on the transition to prepare for the installation cutoff at the end of 2025.

Changes to Note:

  • There is a one-to-one model change, as seen on the right.
  • The new units use R32 and will require R32 coils and air handlers to match.
  • When matched to a non-UL2-40 furnace, Furnace Integration Kit 0230K00044 (.489914) is required.
  • R32 equipment uses significantly less charge than R410A.
  • The condensers have been upgraded in some aspects to conform to UL Standard 60335-2-40 (aka UL2-40).
    • Contactors are now enclosed, with lug connections.
    • The grille top is now compliant.
  • In some cases the units are smaller. See Appendix Two.
  • The model nomenclature is changing to help distinguish the R32 units from the R410A units.

What’s Staying the Same:

  • The warranty will stay 10-Year Parts (registration required).
  • Key components are the same on both models:
    • 1-speed PSC condenser fan motor
    • Factory-installed filter drier
    • Factory-installed high-pressure switch
  • Most related items are the same with the exception of the TXV.

Additional Items to Note:

Transition

HVAC Distributors will continue to stock the old models, then transition to the new models when inventory is depleted.
