Daikin SkyAir FBQ High Static Concealed Mount Indoor Unit Update

As part of the transition to SEER2 equipment, Daikin Comfort Technologies is introducing new SkyAir FBQ high static concealed mount indoor units.

The FBQ has a number of updates and upgrades, including:

• The new version is shorter (a decrease of over 2”).
  • The old is 11-13/16” high
  • The new is 9-11/16” high.
• The new version can now field-convert from the factory set rear return to a bottom return.
  • This provides a nice improvement in installation flexibility.
• It uses a different zoning kit.
  • The Old FBQ_PVJU used the DZK zoning kit.
  • The New FBQ-TBVJU uses the DZKS zoning kit.
• With the new SEER2-rated systems, the new 3, 3.5 and 4 ton cooling-only systems can be sold in our entire footprint*
• The New FBQ_TBVJU complies with the UL 60335 2-40 safety standard, which goes into effect January 1, 2024.

Like the old FBQ models, the updated version has these same features:

• Controls are still ordered separately.
• External Static capacity is still 0.8” w.g.
• The new models have the same P1P2 connections so the controller options are the same

*Regional Changes

SkyAir Cooling-Only Systems in the 36, 42 and 48 MBH sizes based on the OLD outdoor units do not meet the post-January 2023 efficiency requirements, and so can no longer be sold in DE, MD, and VA. The sale of those systems is limited to PA, NY, and WV in our footprint.

But the same systems (SkyAir cooling-only 3-4 ton) based on the NEW outdoor units DO meet those efficiency requirements, so they can be sold throughout our entire footprint, including DE, MD, and VA.

Transition

HVAC Distributors will continue to stock the old FBQ models, then transition to the new models when inventory is depleted.
