Incorrect Speed Selection on Dip Switch Sticker on *MVC96/*CVC96 Furnace

by HVAC Distributors

Goodman has released Service Bulletin SF-075 concerning an error found on the dip switch sticker on select furnaces:

Goodman has discovered an error in the blower speed label affixed to the *MVC96 and *CVC*96 furnace product. Under the Speed Selection Dip Switches section of the door sticker the Heat Selection Switches Taps B, C, and D (S4-3 and S4-4 switches) are mislabeled.

Please refer to the following Switch Bank S4 chart that can be found in the installation instructions that come with the furnace regarding the proper settings below. These Dip Switch settings are for a Legacy (24 volt thermostat) setup as the Dip Switches are not used if the system is utilizing a Communicating thermostat.

If the factory default Dip Switch setting (B) was not changed there will be no change to the intended airflow. If the Dip Switch setting (B) was changed to match what was shown on the furnace label rather than the I&O then this would result in a minor increase in airflow as you are now operating as Tap (C).

Per page 39 of the installation instructions it is recommended to perform CFM verification at Startup as follows: “Select the desired heating speed tap by positioning switches S-4 3, 4 appropriately. Refer to figure above. Verify CFM in heating by noting the number displayed on the dual 7- segment display.”

There is no action required to correct the door sticker as this does not pose a safety or operational furnace issue. Units with serial prefixes of 1802 or later the door stickers have been corrected and are unaffected by the issue.
