2-Year Unit Replacement Limited Warranty Discontinuation

2-Year Unit Replacement Limited Warranty Discontinuation

by HVAC Distributors

With the upcoming January 2023 efficiency upgrade, Goodman is making a change to the warranty for select equipment.  Starting with select Amana and Goodman units manufactured after May 1, 2022 (the first four characters of the serial number starting with “2205”), the 2-Year Unit Replacement Limited Warranty will no longer be included.  The Limited Parts Warranty will remain the same.

For condensers and heat pumps, this eliminates the conflict of being both obligated AND not allowed to supply an identical new unit.

  • After January 1, 2023 Goodman (like all other manufacturers) will no longer be allowed to supply a unit that fails to meet the new efficiency standard.
  • This eliminates all current 13 and 14 SEER condensers and heat pumps.

Please note, some of these are to be phased out in January 2023 (some are already phased out).  This means that any inventory of phased out equipment that is in stock is unaffected by this change because of the manufacturing date.

Affected Equipment:

2-Year Unit Replacement Limited Warranty Discontinuation

For those items affected by this change, the remaining warranty is still one of the strongest in the industry:

  • 10-Year Parts Warranty (registration required)
  • Optional 10-Year Labor Warranty
