ComfortBridge™ Air Handlers Locking Out Heat Operation

ComfortBridge™ Air Handlers Locking Out Heat Operation

by HVAC Distributors

Goodman has released Technical Services Bulletin SR-082 regarding select ComfortBridge air handlers locking out heat operation.

From Goodman:

ComfortBridge air handlers locking out heat operation models listComfortBridge air handlers listed in the table (right) with a serial number of prefixes 2010 through 2104 may fail to energize electric heat when the outdoor ambient is below zero or if the outdoor ambient rises above the electric heat lockout temperature (factory default 65°F) and then falls below this temperature.

To resolve, apply the over-the-air (OTA) update available via the CoolCloud™ HVAC app.

Download the CoolCloud HVAC app on your phone. The CoolCloud HVAC App is used to upload firmware and shared data via OTA updates. Once the user has logged into the app, the latest firmware will immediately be available for upload to the unit. Once wireless connection to the equipment is established, the app will prompt you that updates are available. Click “Update” and the transfer will begin. Time to complete could reach or exceed 10+ minutes.Units produced with serial number prefix 2105 and later will include this software update and are unaffected.

ComfortBridge™ Air Handlers labelUnits shipped from Goodman after 4/19/2021 have been reworked at the factory and can be identified by a green dot on the traveler label or by the green V09 sticker on the board as shown in the picture (right).

Goodman will provide labor at a Class “A” labor rate for those units listed above that require this software update to correct these issues. The labor rate will only apply for units with the serial range listed above and installed prior to June 1, 2021. For all other units, the update is available during initial system startup using the CoolCloud HVAC app as instructed in the Installation Instructions. In these cases, the app will provide the updated firmware through the OTA process.

Claims must be filed on Warranty Express as an Authorization type claim, using Authorization Code number 8717. The claim for the labor should be filed using the Dealer’s account number.

Please consult the Warranty Department if you need assistance with this process. The claim will be paid upon review by the Warranty Department. Warranty Claims will be approved for equipment that is still covered under the terms of Standard Warranty. All claims for this project must be submitted by December 2026.
