by HVAC Distributors

Daikin has released Technical Service Bulletin TSB C-GN-FN-0024:

Daikin Comfort Technologies designs and manufactures furnaces certified to meet the American National Standard (ANSI Z21.47) and National Standard of Canada (CSA-2.3) for Gas-fired central furnaces. The 2021 edition of this standard was released with an effective date of December 1, 2022. In the revised standard, the use of ABS and PVC Cellular/Foam Core products for flue venting systems has been eliminated.

To comply with the revised standard, Daikin Comfort Technologies has removed ABS and PVC Cellular/Foam Core products from the Venting Material Requirements table in all current versions of our condensing gas furnace installation manuals.

After December 1, 2022, ABS and PVC Cellular/Foam Core products will NOT be an approved material for construction of furnace vent systems for any of our condensing gas furnaces.

Please note that these materials may still be used for combustion air ducting to the furnace.
