Daikin FDMQ, VISTA, and EMURA Single Zone Systems Update
by HVAC Distributors July 13, 2023Daikin is introducing new outdoor units for the FDMQ, Vista, and EMURA Single Zone heat pump systems, to conform to the new SEER2 requirements.
The new outdoor units have a number of updates and upgrades, including:
- They now come with Blue-fin coating on the heat exchanger coil, for added corrosion resistance and lower maintenance.
- The new models comply with the UL 60335 2-40 safety standard, which goes into effect January 1, 2024.
Like the old models, the updated versions have these same features:
- The new outdoor units come in the same size spread as the old ones.
- 12 Year Parts Limited Warranty (the same extended labor warranty and unit replacement warranty are available)
Compatibility
Depending on the indoor unit, they may be backward compatible. Refer to the specific system notes below.
The FDMQ Single Zone Series
- At this time, the New RX_WMVJU9 is ONLY compatible with the New FDMQ_WVJU9.
- Daikin is doing an evaluation on rating the new outdoor with the old FDMQ, but at this time they are not AHRI rated, and therefore non-compatible.
The Vista Single Zone Series
- The indoor unit will work with both the old and new outdoor units.
- The performance rating will depend on the outdoor unit.
- A system with an old outdoor unit will have a SEER rating
- A system with a new outdoor unit will have a SEER2 rating.
The EMURA Single Zone Series
- The indoor unit will work with both the old and new outdoor units.
- The performance rating will depend on the outdoor unit.
- A system with an old outdoor unit will have a SEER rating
- A system with a new outdoor unit will have a SEER2 rating.
Transition
HVAC Distributors will continue to stock the old models, then transition to the new models when inventory is depleted.
