Daikin Introduces R32 ENTRA Ductless Heat Pumps

Daikin Introduces R32 ENTRA Ductless Heat Pumps

by HVAC Distributors

As part of the transition to A2L refrigerants, Daikin has introduced the R32 version of the ENTRA single-zone heat pump mini-splits.

Background:

  • Manufacturers will no longer build R410A equipment after December 31, 2024, AND dealers will no longer be allowed to sell R410A equipment after December 31, 2025.
  • ENTRA now joins Atmosphera in the R32 equipment lineup. This is the entry level single zone mini-split system.
  • It is available only in a heat pump; no cooling-only.
  • The indoor unit is available only as a wall-mount

Changes to Note:

  • The new ENTRA uses R32 refrigerant.
  • Those who want to buy a system will need to have their A2L certification on file with HVAC Distributors, Inc. To receive your A2L certification, sign up for a A2L training here.
  • Do not mix an R410A unit with an R32 unit. These are not interchangeable.

Features Not Changing with the Transition:

  • All the installation accessories will stay the same.
  • All the control options will stay the same (Appendix Two).
  • Federal 25C tax credit has not changed. It is not eligible. (Appendix One)
  • Energy Star rating has not changed. It is not Energy Star rated.

Transition

HVAC Distributors will continue to stock the old models, then transition to the new models when inventory is depleted.
