New Amana ASXH4 Condenser

As part of the continuing effort to get ready for the January 2023 efficiency upgrade, Goodman Manufacturing is introducing the ASXH4 condenser.  This unit will replace the 1-stage condenser ASX14 (not the ANX14).

What’s Changed:

• These meet the 2023 DOE energy standards.
• Removable top grille is compliant with UL 60335-2-40.
• The condenser coil on the 1.5-4 ton units is a 5mm copper tube with enhanced aluminum fins.
• The venturi ring (the part that surrounds the fan blade) has been redesigned to enhance air flow.

What’s The Same:

• Easy service access through four removable panels.
• High and low pressure switches as standard.
• High density foam compressor sound blanket.
• High efficiency scroll compressor.

The difference between the new ASXH4 and new ASXN4:

• Like the old ASX14 and ANX14 the ASXH4 features a better compressor and more extensive use of the sound blanket.
• The use of Hard Start Kits is the same as with the old units.
  • A hard start kit is required on the old ANX14 and new ASXN4.
    • The appropriate HSK is a tagalong on the ASXN4.
  • A hard start kit is strongly recommended on the old ASX14 and new ASXH4
    •  The appropriate HSK is in the related items for the ASXH4.

AHRI Matches:

• These will be rated to the new SEER2 ratings.
• Goodman has just begun the process of releasing the AHRI ratings and we don’t expect to need them until September.
• At this time some matches are available in the AHRI Directory.

Transition

At this time HVAC Distributors is planning a PIL transition, meaning the ASXH4 will not ship until the ASX14 model is sold out.  We plan on having adequate ASX14 inventory through the cooling season.  Please note, as of January 2023 dealers in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia will no longer be allowed to install the ASX14.
