New Daikin OTERRA Single Zone Mini-Split

As part of their ongoing updating of the mini-split line to conform to SEER2 requirements, Daikin is introducing the new OTERRA Series of single zone mini-splits, to replace the 19 Series.

OTERRA has a number of updates and upgrades, including:

• OTERRA will work with the Daikin One+ thermostat (DTST-ONE-ADA-A).
• OTERRA is more energy-efficient. It is SEER2-rated to 20 SEER2, while the19 Series is SEER-rated to 19 SEER.
• It complies with the UL 60335 2-40 safety standard which goes into effect January 1, 2024.
• The ODU heat exchanger has the BlueFin anti-corrosion coating for extended life and easier servicing.

Like the 19 Series, OTERRA has these same features:

• There is only one match for each item, making system matching easy.
• There is a set of cooling-only models and a set of heat pump models.
• The size selection is the same (9, 12, 18, and 24).
• OTERRA has the same 12-Year Parts Warranty and the same extended labor warranties are available.
• It includes a handheld wireless remote control in the box.
• Up-and-Down swing is controlled by the controller, while Side-to-Side deflectors are set manually.

Compatibility

There is NO forward-backward compatibility between the 19 Series and OTERRA Series.

Transition

HVAC Distributors will continue to stock complete 19 Series systems, then change to OTERRA when inventory is depleted.
