PVC Venting for Dunkirk DCC, DCCF, DCB, DCBF Boilers and Combis

PVC Venting for Dunkirk DCC, DCCF, DCB, DCBF Boilers and Combis

by HVAC Distributors

ECR International (parent company for Dunkirk, Pennco, Olsen, and others) has announced that their condensing heating equipment is now approved for venting with Schedule 40 PVC, effective immediately.  This includes:

These are the Dunkirk “self-commissioning” boilers and combis. Since their introduction several years ago, they’ve become popular for their ease of installation (self-combustion-analyzing, self-setup, no LP conversion required), their reliability, and their local support (made in New York state). Previously these have had to be vented with either CPVC or polypropylene, which made planning the pieces for a job more extensive.  With this change an installer can now use Schedule 40 PVC, making it easier and faster to do the installation.

Because the equipment was designed for polypro venting, the use of PVC/CPVC adaptors is needed (see chart above). These adaptors are currently stocked at HVAC Distributors. Foam core PVC (aka “cellular core”) is not approved for use.
